Raipur, 22 July , Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today greeted the citizens of the State on the auspicious occasion of ‘Hareli’-popular festival of agriculture-based Chhattisgarh. He wished peace and prosperity to all the people. In a message Dr. Raman Singh said that the festival of ‘Hareli’ celebrated in the month of Sravan’s Amavsya day-brings in the message of ‘Hariyali’ in our lives. Chief Minister said that the festival inspires people in the villages, towns, state and the country to conserve environment and large-scale afforestation. It signifies the importance of ‘Hariyali’ in our lives. Dr. Raman Singh said that farmers worship agriculture equipments-nangar, gounti, spade and animals-which depicts their undying attachment to them. It is an important festival of faith of farmers, their enthusiasm and confidence. Children and youth enjoy ‘godi’ on this day. Dr. Raman Singh prayed to the Rain Gods for bountiful monsoon rains and crops. He appealed to the citizens to plant huge number of saplings to make ‘Green Chhattisgarh’ in the coming days.
