Raipur, 08 September 2017. Vice-President Mr. Venkaiah Naidu today felicitated two Left-Wing Extremism afflicted districts of Chhattisgarh-Dantewada and Jashpur- with National Literacy Awards in New Delhi on the International Literacy Day. He also felicitated two gram panchayats-Karmaha (District -Surguja) and Temri (District Raipur) with Akshar Bharat Rashtriya Puraskar. Thus, Chhattisgarh State bagged four prestigious National Literacy Awards today. It may be mentioned here eleven National Literacy Awards were given away today. Vice-President Mr. Naidu said that Chhattisgarh is a new State which is making rapid strides on all parameters of development. He revealed that cent per cent Literacy should be achieved at any cost in the entire country by the year 2022. Co-operation of all the sections of the society is needed to meet the target set. Union Human Resources Development Minister Mr. Prakash Jawadekar was also present. Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh congratulated the officers-employees associated with the Literacy Mission and Akshar Sainiks, panchs-sarpanchs and citizens of both the districts-Dantewada and Sukma. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Gourav Singh of National Literacy Mission District Panchayat Dantewada and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Deepak Soni Jashpur District Panchayat received the awards at the hands of Vice-President Mr. Naidu. Chief Executive Officer Mr. Anurag Pande of Gram Panchayat Karmaha (district Surguja) and Chief Executive Officer Mrs.Tijiya Banjare of Gram Panchayat Temri (District-Raipur) received the awards in New Delhi. The officer said that 78 thousand citizens had been covered under the National Literacy Mission out of a total of 80 thousand 208 residents at Naxalite affected Dantewada district. Dr. Gaurav Singh revealed that all the 732 jail inmates had been made literates in Dantewada district jail. The district has joined the cent per cent Literate districts of the country. Stress is being laid on Digital Literacy also. Neo-Literates’ details will be uploaded on websites soon. Jashpur district Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mr. Deepak Tandon said National Literacy Award had been given to the district as neo-literates had been aligned with Chief Minister’s Skills’ Development Project and Digital Literacy had been encouraged.
