We are committed towards protecting farmers, poor people and villagers: Chief Minister

Rs 20.72 crore transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries under Godhan Nyay Yojana till date

Raipur, 25 September 2020: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today transferred online Rs 8 crore 02 lakh to the accounts of 83 thousand 809 dung sellers as the fourth installment of payment under Godhan Nyaya Yojana. This payment was done for the 4 lakh 1475 quintals of cowdung procured in 3122 gauthans of the state between September 1 and September 15. Till date, total of Rs 20 crore 72 lakh has been paid under this scheme. This scheme is largely benefitting the poor, landless and cattle owners. 

On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh said in his address that State Government is living up to its commitment of protecting the interests of farmers, poor people and labourers. He said that fulfilling right from loan waiver to paddy procurement, irrigation tax waiver to halving the electricity bills, and launching various innovative schemes for farmers and poor people of the state, we have kept all our promises. Through Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana, we are making consistent efforts to improve the financial condition of people in rural areas. On the occasion, Chief Minister mentioned about three ordinances related to agriculture, saying that these three laws are not in larger interest of farmers and common people. These would adversely affect the livelihood of farmers, agricultural labourers and common people. Hoarding, contract farming and private mandi system will only cause harm. 

Chief Minister said that Government is fulfilling the promise of making payments to the beneficiaries under Godhan Nyaya Yojana every 15 days. Till date, Rs 20 crore 72 lakh have been paid for dung procurement in last four fortnights and 30 thousand quintals of vermin compost have been manufactured in gauthans. On this occasion, Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh State is becoming the model state of the country in terms of farmers’ welfare. State government is with the farmers. At the beginning of the program, Dr. M Geeta, Commissioner of Agricultural Production gave detailed information about the Godhan Nyaya Yojana through Power Point Presentation.

On this occasion, Advisor to Chief Minister Rajesh Tiwari and Ruchir Garg, Chief Secretary RP Mandal, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Sahu, Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, Secretary Cooperative R. Prasanna, Director Agriculture Nilesh Kshirsagar, Deputy Secretary Ms. Soumya Chaurasia and other senior administrative officers were present.
